Windows 8 Developer Download

The Windows Developer Preview is a pre-beta version of Windows 8 for developers. These downloads include prerelease software that may change without notice. The software is provided as is, and you bear the risk of using it. It may not be stable, operate correctly or work the way the final version of the software will. It should not be used in a production environment. The features and functionality in the prerelease software may not appear in the final version. Some product features and functionality may require advanced or additional hardware, or installation of other software.

You can grab it in both 32-bit and 64-bit flavors, or the 64-bit version along with developer tools. The developer tools version requires a clean install, but if you have a Windows Vista or 7 installation on your machine, you can keep accounts, files and settings with a new installation. Windows XP users can upgrade and keep their accounts and files only. That said, we don't really recommend installing this over your existing copy of Windows, as it'll likely have a few quirks this early on in the preview. Hit the link below to check it out.

How To Fix Windows Cannot Find MSCONFIG Error at RUN Command

Usually virus is the culprit for removing msconfig, regedit and etc from Run command. Anyway, here’s how I manage to bring back MSCONFIG to the Run command.

Here the steps to fix this problem

1.Download the msconfig_by_gigs.rar

2.after you download it, Extract, see the picture where you place the msconfig.exe

In the right pane, next to Default, it should show:

C:\WINDOWS\PCHealth\HelpCtr\Binaries\MSConfig.exe

That should restore MSConfig.exe to your Windows. IF MSConfig.exe is already there and you still can’t launch MSCONFIG from Run command, then the reference to the path within the registry may be wrong. Check this location in the registry:

4.Open regedit follow this path below

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\MSCONFIG.EXE

Once you have both MSConfig.exe file in your computer and the registry path is set correctly, you shouldn’t have problems running msconfig command from Run.

MSConfig Cleanup

I am sure just about everyone here knows what MSConfig is and use it often when optimising a system or removing a virus.
While working with MSConfig, we untick many of the entries that don’t need to start when the computer boots but now you are left with a bunch of unused entries. This is especially true with virus infections.

This is where MSConfig Cleanup comes in. MSConfig is a small and freeware and application that scans the startup configuration and allows you to remove any item that has previously been disabled by MSConfig.

While the download comes with an installer, I have found the executable can be taken out and used stand alone on other systems, so it is portable.
